How the anime version took off
Once the Opa Opa Op trend reached beyond Russian-speaking TikTok, anime and VTuber communities started making fan versions. According to MakeViral’s trend page, tutorials for an AI anime version appeared in early October 2026.
On X, fan animators shared Uma Musume versions of the trend, such as an “Opa Opa Op trend (Gentildonna ver)” animation, and VTubers posted their own bouncing clips. These are fan works by their creators, not official releases.
Why it suits anime characters
Anime designs often have big, expressive hairstyles: twin tails, long fringes, ahoge. A short bounce that exaggerates hair movement shows them off, and the loop is easy to rewatch. The format also needs no full-body choreography, so it works with a simple avatar bust shot.
Try it with an anime avatar
- Use artwork you made, commissioned or otherwise have the rights to use.
- Pick a front-facing bust shot with the face and hair clearly visible.
- Avoid busy backgrounds and very small characters in a large scene.
- Expect variation: the model is built around portraits, so stylised art can come out less consistent than a photo.
Respect creators and characters
Do not upload other people’s fan art or official character art you do not have rights to. If you share your result, credit the artist of the original drawing.
